The royal game of Jaipur used to be the Polo. Though the charm has long been faded the sport still survives as a glance of royal sport. Polo, the skill of the horse and the rider both were needed and it happened to be the most famous sport in Rajasthan.
Like every other city in India, Jaipur also has grown a keen interest in India’s most popular sport, Cricket. Rajasthan, especially Jaipur city has already produced a bunch of national level cricket players. The city also represents the state in the Indian Premier League as the team called Rajasthan Royals and won the inaugural edition of IPL, 2008.
Football in Jaipur is gaining popularity in a very fast pace. The district Football Association and clubs like Jaipur FC are doing great job by arranging football matches and tournaments throughout the year. Recently the city also played as the Jaipur Pink Panthers at the first edition of Indian Super League and scored very well in the tournament.
Kabaddi, the popular game in the rural India is also garnering popularity in the metro cities like Jaipur. Recently held the Pro Kabbadi League which was inaugurated in 2014 with the motto of promoting Kabbadi to a broader perspective has helped creating awareness among the youths of Jaipur city. The opening edition of the league was won by the team Jaipur Pink Panthers.
