Jaipur Literature Festival
The ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival takes place every year in the city of Jaipur, is the biggest literary festival of Asia. It started in 2006 and since then, this grand festival has been organized successfully every year. Miranda Seymour has descried Jaipur literature festival as “the grandest literary festival of them all” in Sunday issue of The Mail dated, 10 August 2008.

Venue and Location of Jaipur Literature Festival
Diggi Palace Hotel is the main venue of Jaipur Literature Festival, where both its hall and the beautiful gardens are utilized to celebrate excellence not only in Rajasthani or Indian but also international writing. Founders and Organizers of Jaipur Literature Festival
It was the Jaipur Virasat Foundation founded by Faith Singh who took initiative to begin such a literature festival. Initially it is started as a segment of the Jaipur Heritage International Festival in 2006. But, within a span of six years, the festival developed into a firm festival celebrating literature of all genres. While the Jaipur writers festival is produced by Sanjoy Roy of Teamwork Productions, it is directed by the famous writers like William Dalrymple and Namita Gokhale. Nobody would have imagined that the Jaipur Literature Festival will become the biggest as well as the most prestigious literature festival of Asia, when it was held at the first time in 2006 with the participation of just 18 writers.But, with time it attracted more literature lovers to take part, as writers like Salman Rushdie and Kiran Desai have become the prominent guests of the festival. A number of writers from different parts of the world participated in Jaipur literature festival in 2009 and 2010. Last year, around 220 writers held discussions on various topics related to literature here.

In Jaipur literature festival, a fixed time slot is given to hold discussions which are arranged in varied places of Diggi Palace, the main venue. Many important writers and personalities that are regular guests at the event include Salman Rushdie, Kapil Sibal, Steven Pinker, Chetan Bhagat, Suman Keshari, Vinod Mehta, Yatindra Mishra, Kiran Nagarkar, Barkha Dutt, Oprah Winfrey, Peter Popham, Madan Gopal Singh, Joseph Lelyveld, Navdeep Suri, Mohmmed Hanif, David Remnick, Simon Sebab Montiflore, Amish Tripathi, Tahmima Anam, Sugata Bose and many more. There are many other events held in the festival such as readings, debates on topics like women security and integrity, values of laws and incarceration and workshops for children.

The most advantageous feature of Jaipur Literature Festival is that you get free entry to this festival. If you need certain privileges such as accommodation and transportation, you can take a delegate pass at a special rate. Media persons also get free pass. In order to avoid queue at the venue of the festival, all the participants are requested to pre-register online and carry their online registration print out and a photo identification with them at the festival. You cannot attend the festival without any required documents.
